Invisalign Orthodontics

Invisalign for straight teeth in BrisbaneInvisalign is the new way to straighten teeth without braces. Our Invisalign dentists use a series of clear, removable Aligners to gradually straighten teeth, without metal or wires. Being nearly invisible, you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing. Invisalign aligners also have added comfort, without the metal brackets or wires to cause irritation, and are able to be removed when you eat or drink.

A Clear Alternative...

Invisalign is a virtually invisible solution so you can smile during as well as after treatment. In fact, virtually no one will know you’re wearing them unless you tell. By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth right before your eyes. Change them about every two weeks and your teeth will move toward the smile you have always wanted.

Invisible. Removable. Comfortable.

Invisalign is comfortable to wear and it doesn’t require you to change your busy lifestyle. You visit your dentist at Jorgensen Mutzelburg Dental every month or two to check your progression and to get your new aligners. Average treatment time is about one year. Because aligners are removable, you are able to continue to eat your favourite foods while brushing and flossing normally to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Ask your Dentist...

Your dentist at Jorgensen Mutzelburg Dental has undergone extensive training, and continue to attend courses to ensure you have the best treatment available today. Please ask if Invisalign can help you achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of, and check out examples of cases that have already been completed.

Ceramic Crowns and Veneers

Beautiful smiles in Brisbane A proven method for restoring teeth and improving appearance, ceramic crowns and veneers have become the standard of care for broken down teeth. We work with the best Australian dental technicians to achieve a tooth that replicates the ideal in your mouth as closely as possible. Ceramic crowns or caps are extremely strong and will protect your teeth from further breakdown.

Popular amongst many people, and often seen on makeover television shows, are porcelain veneers for the front teeth. This is a great way to provide an "instant" makeover for your smile.

Since the early 1980's ceramic veneers have become the cosmetic solution of choice. This simple technique for replacing natural enamel, allows the restoration of anterior teeth without involving the removal of large amounts of tooth structure. Giving you the smile you dream of with minimal fuss or time at the dentist.

Where can they be used?

Ceramic crowns and veneers have been successfully used to correct the following situations:

  • Restoring worn and aged appearance
  • Discoloured teeth. Tetracycline stains
  • Hypoplasia
  • Chipped teeth
  • Peg laterals
  • Malaligned teeth
  • Partially erupted teeth
  • Midline diastema and space closure
  • Covering eroded palatal enamel

Your dentists at Jorgensen Mutzelburg Dental are highly trained in aesthetic dentistry, and can work with you and our world-class dental technicians to provide your perfect smile. When considering ceramic veneers, always ensure your dentist has experience in this area. Be wary of "No preparation" veneer methods such as "lumineers" and "glamsmile" as in most cases these are not suitable and will result in thick, long or rounded teeth, often with very poor gingival health. The teeth often appear fake and lack any character.

Replacing Missing Teeth

Jorgensen Mutzelburg Dental is able to offer all methods of replacing your missing teeth. While it is usually better to maintain your own teeth, in some circumstances this is not possible. Once your own tooth has been removed, it is extremely important to replace that missing tooth to prevent further damage to your surrounding teeth and occlusion (bite). The services available to replace teeth are through implants, ceramic or gold bridges, or removable dentures or plates. For those who are missing all of their teeth, implant supported full dentures will provide you with the strongest possible option, without the fear of loose dentures.
Contact us to discuss which of these options is best for you.

Rotary Endodontics

Root canal therapy (RCT) has been available for many decades and has allowed many of our patients to retain their teeth for a lifetime. Previously the teeth would have just been removed, leading to a lifetime of additional expensive problems. With advances in technology, root canal therapy has become very comfortable for our patients, and means that a tooth that has been extensively infected can be retained for life pain-free with the right restoration. At Jorgensen Mutzelburg Dental, we use the latest in rotary endodontic technology to ensure the best result for our patients as well as minimising any discomfort. For our patients, the Root canal therapy treatment is no more remarkable than having a normal filling. Many of our patients take the opportunity to watch a movie or have a snooze.

Implants

Dental mini-implants used to support your denture The standard when it comes to replacing teeth, and supporting dentures, dental implants have proven themselves for more than 35 years to be a highly successful method to restore natural tooth function. Implants can return your ability to chew all foods, and improve your confidence in your overall appearance, and ability to speak. Dental implants are made from titanium, the same biocompatible metal used in other orthopaedic plates throughout the body. When placed in the jaw, your bone accepts the material and bonds to it through a process called osseointegration. Dental implants can be used to support dentures, bridgework or single teeth.
Implant supported dentures are a superior option to conventional removable dentures due to the anchor they provide.

Implants show several advantages over conventional replacement procedures, providing the strongest anchor, as well as conservative treatment of your surrounding teeth. Patients of our dentists who have received this treatment in the past are very satisfied with the results.

TMJ Disorders

Problems in the jaw joint often occur in people who are under increased pressure, as they will often deal with this stress and tension subconsciously by clenching and grinding their teeth while asleep. Often unaware of the cause, people suffering TMD, may experience muscular pain in their jaws, temples, back of their necks and shoulders which may lead to headaches; as well as ringing in the ears and earache amongst other commonly found symptoms. Dentists will often detect other signs of clenching and grinding that patients are not always aware of until shown with our intra-oral camera.

Grinding and clenching your teeth for any prolonged period can be very harmful to your teeth and lead to damage to your jaw joint, as well as fractured teeth and restorations. Apart from stress, TMD has been associated with changes in bite, poor posture and sleep positions. Our dentists have a particular interest in this area, and have successfully treated hundreds of patients with this condition.
If you feel that you may have this condition, feel free to make an appointment with one of our dentists to have it managed and lose a lifetime of tension and pain.

Sleep Disorders and Snoring

If you are a person who often wakes from sleep still feeling tired, needs naps during the day time, falls asleep in front of the tv, in meetings or when reading a book, or have been told that you snore, then this is important to read.

Sleep Disordered Breathing is characterised by sleep disruption caused by an airway obstruction. As you fall asleep, you experience a loss of muscle tone called airway patency. The soft tissues in your airway relax against the tongue, partially or completely cutting off air flow to your lungs. Levels of Sleep Disordered Breathing can range from mild to severe, and include snoring, upper airway resistance syndrome (UARS), and obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). Snoring is always indicative of the development or existence of a sleep breathing problem. UARS is more common amongst younger women, and is often accompanied by headaches, gastric reflux and asthma. OSA is characterised by brief interruptions to breathing during sleep, with repeated periods of no breathing for at least 10 seconds at a time. It occurs when the airway collapses and prevents air from getting into your lungs. These apnoeic events can last longer than one minute and represent a serious risk to your health. Fortunately, this condition can be easily identified by your sleep dentist in collaboration with a specialist sleep physician, and effectively treated.

What to do:

Knocked out tooth:

If dirty, rinse the tooth in milk, being careful to hold it by the crown only (not roots). If milk is not available, use water (few seconds only) or have patient gently suck it clean, then put the tooth back in the socket. If the tooth cannot be replanted, wrap in Glad Wrap or place it in milk or in the patient's mouth inside the cheek.
Contact our clinic as soon as possible, as time is critical for successful replanting.

Broken tooth:

Try to clean debris from the injured area with warm water. If caused by a blow, place a cold compress on the face next to the injured tooth to minimize swelling. Try to find all the bits that are missing and bring them to the dentist, keeping them moist. Some broken pieces can be bonded back onto the teeth almost invisibly.
Contact our clinic as soon as possible.
